Councilmember Perez has spent her entire life in Norwalk, serving the community that has helped to shape her values and ideals. She attended St. John of God Elementary and St. Paul High Schools and graduated from Cerritos College with her AA degree in Business Management and Administration.
Shortly after graduation Jennifer married Michael Perez at St. Linus Catholic Church. Together, they made the decision to purchase their first home and start their family in the city where they were both raised. Jennifer and Michael are proud parents of sons Andrew and Gabriel, who keep them busy with numerous activities, notably their favorite sport, baseball. In fact, since the boys were first signed up at Holifield Park for Norwalk Pony Baseball, Jennifer and Mike have been such enthusiastic supporters of the league that Mike became and currently serves as the Norwalk Pony Board President. The entire Perez family attends St. Linus Catholic Church, and are actively involved with their parish community.
Councilmember Perez has served the City as a Planning Commissioner since 2010. She says that her years of experience on this advisory body has taught her the importance of listening, taking the time to carefully evaluate each situation and to respect residents’ points of view. Jennifer has also served on the Art in Public Places Committee, where she has helped to bring about art works and installations that represent Norwalk’s values and traditions. In addition, Jennifer has also been active as:
- St. Linus Annual Fiesta Volunteer Chair
- St. Linus School Fundraising Captain
- Relay for Life Team Lifesavers
- Relay for Life Event Leadership Team – Event Lead 2015 & 2016
- Norwalk Pony Baseball Parent volunteer
- St. Paul High School Sports Committees
Councilmember Perez is keenly aware of how crucially residents and businesses may be impacted as a result of decisions made by elected officials, and encourages the public to get involved and have a voice in the process.
The Councilmember firmly believes that Norwalk would benefit from insightful, innovative, and creative leaders who are willing to make difficult decisions and persevere to find the best solution for everyone, that every tax dollar should be spent wisely and with direct benefit to residents, and that Norwalk residents deserve services and programs that enhance and improve the community.
