Cultural Programs

The Cultural Arts Center is located within the Norwalk Arts & Sports Complex. The Center offers a wide variety of classes, programs and workshops designed to give participants of all ages an opportunity for creative expression. Classes have included "Primary Colors", an introductory art class for tots; "Wigglemania", a music and movement program for tots; "Sew Cool", a basic sewing class for youth, "Kids & Cable", "Kids Playhouse", "Arty Facts", "Science Classes", and many more including the City of Norwalk Youth Mariachi Program. For family fun, you can join us for Family Art Nights and Museum Excursions. Art Center special events include the celebration of Read Across America and the Birthday of Dr. Seuss, Community Book Fair, Haunted Art Studio, and Day of the Dead Celebration.

In addition to activities, the Center hosts the Mary Paxon Art Gallery. The Gallery is 1,400 square feet of exhibit space for local and area artists. Free!!!! Cultural Arts Center Special Event "Artastic" Evening
Friday, April 19 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Cost: Free Artastic is a free special event, highlighting the Cultural Arts Center and the programs available to the community. We offer dozens of different classes in varying art mediums; stop by and see what we have to offer. This is a free event for the entire family and will feature free art activities and projects for youth, multiple art exhibits, entertainment, All City Band fundraising dinner, a book fair, a scholarship ceremony, painting demonstrations, Chalk Art Contest - click here for application, and much more. Community Art Competition & Scholarship Program
Art Submittal Date: April 2rd - 5th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Art Exhibit Dates: April 18th to April 20th Artist Reception Date/Awards Night: Friday, April 19th from 6:00 p.m to 9:00 pm.
Cost: Free
This year will mark our 4th annual Community Art Competition and Scholarship Program. We invite all high school and middle school students who reside within the City of Norwalk or attend school in the Norwalk/La Mirada Unified School District to compete in this program. Please submit your best piece of work. Accepted media include: photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, computer art, prints and mixed media. All artwork must be mounted, matted, or framed.
